Day 1 Chianti
Arrive by car to the medieval village of Castelnuovo Berardengato to check into the 5-Star Castel Monastero, part of the luxury Eleganzia Hotels & Spas collection of Italy. Dating to 11th century when it was the monastery of the Ombrone, the 76 rooms of this ancient country house are furnished in a contemporary style based on regional traditions such as terracotta flooring and wooden beams. The property sits in four green acres of vineyards and olive groves with views from every corner. Carefully restored with respect for the traditions and the origins of the building and grounds, enhanced with modern amenities and your comfort in mind.

During the day, you can visit the Cellar where, under the tutelage of an experienced sommelier, you can taste a sampling of the regional wines and vintages produced on the estate. Or, visit the bar in the village square where you can sip Tuscan herbal teas prepared according to old recipes. You also have included access to the spa of Castel Monastero, designed by the operators of Urban Retreats, the largest and best known spa in Europe, located in Harrods in London.
Internationally renowned chef Gordon Ramsey of “Hell’s Kitchen” (US) and “Kitchen Nightmare” (UK) fame oversees the menus of both the Castel’s on-site restaurants. Under the direction of Alexander Delfanti, the “Gourmet” restaurant in the village square offers traditional Tuscan cuisine.
